TORONTO, Ont. – Police are searching for the person or persons responsible for the death of two young brothers after their bodies were found in a stairwell of an underground parking garage in North York.
The victims have been identified as Justin Waterman, 18, and Jerome Waterman, 22, both of Toronto.
The bodies were found at 325 Bogert Ave., near Yonge Street and Sheppard Avenue, just before 4 p.m. Monday.
The residents whose unit backs on to the underground parking garage told 680News they heard several loud bangs Monday afternoon, and then a tenant in the garage, stumbled upon the bodies of the two men.
One resident of the building told 680News he heard something that sounded like 15 or 20 firecrackers going off in the area.
Toronto police Det.-Sgt. Hank Idsinga with the homicide unit told CityNews the victims, suffered multiple gunshot wounds.
Police believe the killings were targeted.
Police canvassed the area looking for witnesses and are reviewing surveillance camera video. So far, there’s no description of a suspect or suspects.
“We have some indication that some suspects were seen fleeing the west end of the building in the ravine area — I believe it’s Earl Bales Park,” Det. Sgt. Idsinga told CityNews. “So obviously anyone who saw anything or heard anything, we hope they please call us or Crime Stoppers and give us that information.”
